Deeply grateful for this opportunity to develop and share brunch in front of an audience, with an absolutely brilliant team of artists, especially in the light of so many shows having to close early due to our current pandemic. Love and safety to all.

Beth has a husband and four (count it, four!) new blenders, bangs keeps having sex that hurts but at least she's got great bangs, and Lynn's just on the hunt for a good appendage to spend the night with. As for Clarissa? She just really doesn't want to die alone. In this biting examination of female tropes and the search for "Mr. Right," the love of your life might terrify you, might even kill you, but hey – at least he's got great dental.

Three Anne Franks

A Play by Maya Macdonald
November 19, 20, 21 at 7:30pm
Theatre 101, 200 College Avenue, VT campus

Three people audition to play Anne Frank in a production that could not obtain the rights to a single word from Anne’s diary. As interpretations vary, we begin to see the difference between who Anne Frank was and who we need her to be. With biting humor, this short play explores complications of privacy and authorship, appropriation, race and Jewish identity, and the performance of history.

 Director: Courtney Surmanek

Assistant Director: TeAsya Hudson

Stage Manager: Haylee McGeorge

Ensemble: Destinee Jones, Laura Schneider, Grace Shields, Bryanna Batts

RSVP is not necessary but welcome at courtneymeranda@vt.edu. Seating is on a first-come basis.

Three Anne Franks is a studio assignment conducted as part of the curriculum of the Theatre Department’s Directing & Public Dialogue Program.
